FOXYLAB + KNC

FOXYLAB helps new york students to bring art & culture abroad

A major component of Kids N Culture is storytelling. We want our students to develop and share their own story, coming together to listen and learn from one another. We explore stories from cultures overlooked or unexplored, and witness walks of life much different than our own. And we are always looking for ways to partner with organizations and brands who are helping to amplify these stories. FoxyLab, based here in New York City, is one of those brands and our students have been able to rock some of their latest designs abroad.

FoxyLab collaborates with local or lesser known artists to create one-of-a-kind clothing designs that are truly wearable art. Each collection is unique, and limited to ensure that it feels special. Oxana De Castro, founder of FoxyLab and longtime supporter of Kids N Culture, was inspired by the unmistakable energy and diversity of NYC. Her goal was to support emerging artists who were unafraid to express themselves, and were eager to view the world from different angles.

“In our world fashion and art don’t exist separately, they have to be together. We provide artists with our clothing as a canvas for creativity. Every artwear piece has a name, a number, and an artist’s signature, just like any piece of art. We don’t use art just to decorate our stuff, we find artists whose style and philosophy reflect global issues and themes we want to highlight and discuss. Our goal is to make artwear a new form of clothing. For us, ‘artwear’ is more than just a form of clothing – it’s a 360-degree lifestyle that celebrates free expression.”

Our Kids N Culture students have been able to share the FoxyLab story abroad, bringing artists original designs to iconic destinations throughout England, Japan, and Vietnam. The original designs, each with their own story, resonated with the students who were all WAY too excited to be models. They posed and cat walked around Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, with another cohort flexing their fashion sense throughout the jungles surrounding Hanoi. We thank Oxana and the entire Foxylab team for their continued support of Kids N Culture and our students. Consider us fans for life.
